SEPTEMBER LITERACY AND MATH CENTERS


This resources contains 6 literacy centers and 6 math centers to be used during the month of September.

LITERACY CENTERS INCLUDED:

Phonics Center: Print and laminate the syllable cards. Have your learners count the syllables in each word and use a clothespin and clip the correct answer. Learners may complete the printable while at the center or as an assessment after.

Pocket Chart Center: Print and laminate the title and rhyming cards. Have your learners sort the rhyming cards by those that rhyme and don’t rhyme. Learners may complete the printable while at the center or as an assessment after.

Reading Center: Print the pages and purchase a photo album from a dollar store. Insert the title and pages into the photo album. Laminate the word holder for each book and velcro the word cards onto the holder page. Learners may read the book at the center and fill in the missing words for the second portion of the book.

Sight Word Center: Edit the sight word cards to meet your needs (see directions below), print and laminate the cards and tape around the room. Have your learners use a clipboard and the printable to write the correct word for each number. Two sets are provided.

Word Play Center: Print and laminate alphabet cards. Place in a bag or in a sensory bin and have learners pick one letter at a time. Learners may then color the lowercase letter on the printable either red, yellow or green to match the capital letter’s card.

Writing Center: Print and laminate the alphabet mats. Have your learners use playdough to form each letter and write the letters on the lines with a dry erase marker or crayon.

MATH CENTERS INCLUDED:

Math Center 1: (Color Sort) Print and laminate the mats and picture cards. Have your learners sort the pictures onto the correct mat. Learners may complete the printable by drawing a picture from each mat on their printable.

Math Center 2: (Missing Number) Print and laminate the number strips and cards. Have the learners place each missing number onto the correct number strip. Learners may write the numbers for each strip onto the corresponding number line on their printable. Two sets are provided.

Math Center 3: (Number Match) Print and laminate the number cards (numeral, number word and picture cards). Have your learners match the cards on a pocket chart (EXT. place in number order). Learners may complete the printable while at the center or as an assessment after.

Math Center 4: (Patterning) Print and laminate the pattern strip and cards. Have the learners match the cards to the correct pattern strip. Learners may complete the printable while at the center or as an assessment after.

Math Center 5: (Shapes) Print and laminate the shape cards. Have your learners use a clothespin and clip the correct shape. Learners may complete the printable while at the center or as an assessment after.

Math Center 6: (Counting) Print and laminate the tree mats and apple circles (may be substituted for pom-poms. Have learners either roll the dice or draw a number from a bag and count the correct number of apples for the tree. Learners may write the numeral and draw the apples on the printable provided.
