SUPER SYLLABLES PHONOLOGICAL AWARENESS ACTIVITIES

 

Use the song and activities in this resource to introduce and practice counting the syllables in common words. Activities can be used whole group or in literacy centers. Each activity comes with a recording worksheet for student assessment or for learners to document their work.

THIS RESOURCE INCLUDES

 

Super Syllables Song

Sing the song in whole or small group to teach counting syllables in words. Use the picture cards to count syllables together.

 

Syllable Sort Literacy Activity

Have learners sort the picture cards into the correct syllable category. Use on a pocket chart or add magnet tape for a magnetic sorting center. Learners may respond using the recording sheets.

 

Syllable Clip Cards Literacy Center

Have learners count the syllable in each picture and place a clip on the correct number. Learners can use the recording sheet to document some of the pictures they completed.

 

Search for Syllables Literacy Center

Have learners search for the syllable cards around the room. As they find a card have learners find the picture on their recording sheet and select the correct number of syllables.

 

BONUS Syllable Worksheet

Have learners cut and glue the pictures into the correct syllable category.
